Rev. Monica Dawkins-Smith earned her M.Div from Lancaster Theological Seminary, a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati and is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. Rev. Dawkins-Smith served as an Associate Pastor of Evangelism and Discipleship at Harold O Davis UCC church in Philadelphia before coming to serve as designated supply pastor at Salem UCC in January, and later called as pastor in July 2008. Uniquely, her call also includes the call as a new church start pastor to the newly forming Journeys UCC.
Prior to a vocation in ministry, Rev. Dawkins-Smith had extensive experience in various professional management roles across several industries, including pharmaceutical, manufacturing and banking. She has a passion for issues related to diversity and currently serves on the Lancaster Seminary Diversity Council. She also serves her alma mater as an elected member of the Alumni Council.
Although new to Harrisburg, Rev. Dawkins-Smith is starting to feel more at home as she's beginning to make new friends and experience the cultural life of the city. She expresses her commitment to community service through her membership with the Rotary Club and other community service involvement with her two churches.
