The Reverend Monica Dawkins-Smith earned her M.Div from Lancaster Theological Seminary, a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Cincinnati and is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. Rev. Dawkins-Smith served as an Associate Pastor of Evangelism and Discipleship at Harold O Davis UCC church in Philadelphia before coming to serve as the pastor at Salem UCC in July 2008. Uniquely, her call also includes the call as a new church start pastor to the newly forming Journeys UCC.
Prior to a vocation in ministry, Rev. Dawkins-Smith had extensive experience in various professional management roles across several industries, including pharmaceutical, manufacturing, non-profits and banking. She has a passion for issues related to diversity and currently serves on the Dauphin County Diversity Advisory Committee. She serves her alma mater (Lancaster Seminary) as an elected member of the Alumni Executive Council.
Although new to Harrisburg, Rev. Dawkins-Smith expresses her commitment to the community by serving with the Harrisburg Keystone Rotary Club. She also serves as a Board member with Dauphin County Children and Youth, , Vice President of the Board of Christian Churches United and is a 2010 Graduate of Leadership Harrisburg Area.
